Chappa Jan was born in a very small rural community in Claremont St. Ann, Jamaica. This is the home of many a famous artist including Justin Hinds, Burning Spear, and Bob Marley. This is also where you will find Dunn’s River Fall, Fern Gully and the birthplace of the Great Marcus Garvey.

Chappa Jan practically grew up around Local Sounds Systems. This enhances his talents and his love for music. He entered many local talent shows; this provided him the opportunity to begin his early recordings. Some early recordings with producers like Paul Vernon and Courtney Cole.

Performance Resume:

Live Performances with various bands allowed Chappa to showcase his talent and original style. He has shared the stage with many acts include: Culture, President Brown, Bounty Killa, Capleton, Beenie Man and Luciano to name a few. A highlight for Chappa Jan was a live 2004 concert performance in Los Angeles, California. He performed with Morgan Heritage and Wayne Wonder. In 2005, Chappa entered major shows in Jamaica. Stand out shows include Culture Shock, Fully Loaded, Campfire with artist Beres Hammond, and Sizzla. He appeared @ Anthony B Show in Trelawny.
